Nitrox is simply air in which the partial pressure of oxygen has been increased beyond the 21% normally found in air. Nitrox is created either through the addition of pure oxygen to the mixture, or the subtraction of nitrogen with a membrane system. On our vessels, we use the latter system.
Nitrox diving has many advantages: absorption of less nitrogen into the bloodstream and body tissues, reduced risk of decompression illness for equivalent profiles, and less post-dive fatigue (especially useful on liveaboards!). As with any diving activity, however, diving with nitrox demands careful attention and a special certification.
Enriched air certifications are an excellent chance to improve your skills and knowledge, and take only about 4 hours of your time, in between dives. No special equipment is required, since we only dive with nitrox mixtures containing less than 40% oxygen. Just ask a dive staff member, and he or she will be happy to help!
Diving with nitrox does require that an additional waiver be signed on board, and a log kept of verified gas mixture, maximum planned dive depth, etc.

Nitrox Pricing - Caribbean & Galapagos
Pricing is as follows (all nitrox fills are mixed at 32% oxygen content): any charges will be added to your on-board bill
- Unlimited 32% fills - US$150.00 for 7-night itineraries (or US $10 per fill)
- Full Enriched Air Certification: PADI or TDI, depending on instructor (includes instruction, classroom materials and two supervised enriched air dives) - US $150.00
- Full Enriched air certification, plus unlimited nitrox fills for the week, are available for US$250, a $50 savings!
- Enriched Air Completion Dives: PADI or TDI, depending on instructor (includes two supervised enriched air dives) - US$50.00
Sorry, nitrox fills following the Enriched Air Completion Dives are not discounted.
Nitrox Pricing - Australia
All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD), payable on board
Nitrox Course price - A$140 SDI or A$180PADI
- (SDI) includes course paperwork, loan of manual, 2 dives with nitrox and computer plus SDI registration. (PADI) includes enriched air crew packa (manual, tables, PIC), 2 dives with nitrox and computer.

Nitrox Completion dives $50 SDI & PADI
- 2 supervised nitrox dives only
- PIC, manual, tables and computer not included
Nitrox fills are also available a la carte at $10 per dive, or $35 per day.
Package Pricing:
- Itinerary 1 - up to 15 dives, fills only $110
- Itinerary 2 - up to 13 dives, fills only $85
- Itinerary 3 & 11- up to 28 dives, fills only $160
- Itinerary 12 - up to 18 dives, fills only $140
